Spring Valley to trial part time firefighter

SPRING VALLEY – Agreements were made between Spring Valley and their fire department on financing a part time firefighter. After much deliberation, the city agreed to help support the employment of a certified day time firefighter for one year to try and resolve the department’s issue of lack of first responders and high call volumes. Within the agreement, the finance committee agreed to amend an ordinance that would allow fining for false alarm emergency calls after one free call per year. The city approved to finance half of the part-timers salary of $40,000.
