STREATOR – An Ottawa man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly fled a traffic stop that was part of an ongoing drug sales investigation. The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team along with the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office and Streator police, attempted to make contact with 45-year-old Christopher Cunico as part of an investigation into illegal methamphetamine sales. Cunico reportedly led authorities on a pursuit from Streator to an area in rural LaSalle County where he lost control of his vehicle and allegedly fled on foot. K9 Units from the Illinois State Police and Marseilles Police, along with a number of area first responders were summoned to the scene to locate Cunico. He was taken into custody in a small wooded area and transported to an area hospital due to exposure to the cold. Cunico was charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and a weapons charge. He is being held at the LaSalle County Jail with bond yet to be set.
