PRINCETON – A Spring Valley man charged with murder will have one more pretrial hearing in February. 37-year-old Eddie L. Mentgen is charged with first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the April 2019 homicide of 28-year-old Marissa Roberts. On Friday at the Bureau County Courthouse, Public Defender Bradley Popurella requested an additional hearing on February 10th, before the bench trial on the 18th. Judge Cornelius Hollerich anticipates that the trial will last about six days. Mentgen is currently being held at the Stateville Correctional Center, but will be transferred to the Bureau County Jail on February 10th, where he will remain throughout the trial.
