No Injuries in Early Sunday Mendota Fire

MENDOTA – No injuries were reported in an early morning house fire in Mendota.  After 1 a.m. on Sunday the Mendota Fire Department was called to the 1000 block of Illinois Ave for a structure fire.   Additional area departments were also called, including Troy Grove, Earlville, Amboy, Peru, LaSalle, and Oglesby assisted with the call.
According to the Mendota Fire Chief Dennis Rutishauser, seven residents escaped harm.   The Red Cross arrived to assist those displaced.
The home suffered significant damage and an SUV parked in the driveway was destroyed and another car was damaged.
The state fire marshall was on scene investigating the cause of the blaze until 5 a.m.
