New Secretary of State revamps ethics order

SPRINGFIELD – The new Secretary of State of Illinois, Alexi Giannoulias, has issued an executive order to revamp the ethics of employees of the secretary of state. Among the new policies includes a review of the use of state vehicles to ensure they are only used for state business functions and prohibiting Secretary of State employees from contributing to the Secretary’s political fund. Other edicts include strengthing policies on sexual harassment and threats in the workplace.
“During my campaign, I pledged to issue, implement and enforce a comprehensive ethics package for the Secretary of State’s office upon taking office,” said Secretary Giannoulias. “As my first act, this Executive Ethics Order achieves this commitment from the very start of my administration and sets the bar to adhere to the highest ethical standards in state government.”
