Nearly 50,000 deer harvested during opening weekend of Illinois Firearm Season

SPRINGFIELD – Numbers were down slightly from last year after the first weekend of Illinois Firearm deer season in the state. The Department of Natural Resources reports 47,147 deer were taken between November 20th-22nd, compared to 50,173 last year. Hunters in LaSalle County took 465 deer, 635 in Bureau, and 207 in Putnam. Firearm Deer Season will conclude December 3rd – 6th. There will be a muzzleloader season December 11th-13th and other weekends for antlerless and Chronic Wasting Disease seasons in select counties.
