Nearly 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in the state, IDPH reports

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 980 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, with 36 additional deaths. The individuals who have passed away from complications related to coronavirus ranged in age from their 40s to their 90s. As of Tuesday evening, 1,518 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19, with 331 in the ICU and 151 on ventilators.
