TONICA – Slick Roads were blamed for two separate accidents 15 minutes apart on I-39.  In the first accident, a 46 year old Gibson City man lost control of his semi north of the Tonica exit, and struck the side of a tractor trailer truck driven by a 45 year old Wisconsin man.  The crash occurred about 5:15 Wednesday morning, and the trucks wound up in a ditch and both drivers escaped injury.  Fifteen minutes later, at the same area of the interstate, state police say a pickup was pulling a horse trailer containing 3 horses  when the driver lost control  and wound up in the median.  The driver, a 35 year old Middleton, Wisconsin woman, and the horses, were not injured.
It took authorities until 8:30 this morning to clear the scene of the accidents.
