MORRIS – The Morris Police Department released a bulletin about a scam a resident received involving possibly advertising on their vehicle and a fraudulent check. A woman received an unsolicited text about putting a graphic for a beer company on her vehicle in exchange for $500. The check arrived and was for well over the original amount, with the scammer saying the difference would have to be sent to the person installing the graphic. Morris Police warn that the checks used in the scam are bad, and victims would be responsible for the bad check plus possible fees. They advise all residents to not take part in any unsolicited business propositions.
