MENDOTA – Mendota City Council approved a $6,700 donation to the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce at Monday night’s meeting. The city normally donates $1,500 to the Chamber of Commerce for fireworks and $5,200 for the Sweet Corn Festival. 2nd Ward Alderman John Holland proposed the council donate the whole $6,700 at one time instead of separating the donations, as the Sweet Corn Festival will look much different in 2020 than it has in past years. Mendota’s fireworks were moved last month to July 11th, as it’s possible that the area could be in the fourth stage of Restore Illinois by that time.
