MENDOTA – Mendota Alderman 
commended the police department for their work in handling the suspect of a number of smash and grab burglaries downtown. 54-year-old Craig J. Hynes is in custody for allegedly breaking the windows of multiple businesses over the last few weeks.

Police Chief Greg Kellen says the individual is in need of psychiatric and behavioral analysis, and him currently being in custody gives the state the opportunity to do a thorough evaluation on his mental health.
