MARSEILLES – The Marseilles Police Chief will be on paid administrative leave pending an Illinois State Police investigation at the request of the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office. The city council met Wednesday to make a resolution to place Police Chief James Hovious on leave due to allegations of misused city funds. In the resolution, the city states they feel the investigation would substantially interfere with the ability of other members of Marseilles Police to work with the State’s Attorney’s Office on other matters. Senior Supervisor Brian Faber was appointed acting Police Chief.
