SANDWICH – One man was seriously injured Saturday evening at a mud truck off road event being held at the Sandwich Fairgrounds. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, they were called around 5 p.m. for a report of a truck striking a person. A 1997 Chevrolet S-10 being driven by a 24-year-old Wisconsin woman was driving down the mud course when she turned, reportedly striking a man and causing serious, life threatening injuries. The victim, 48-year-old Edward E. Oldaker of Rockdale, Wisconsin, was taken via helicopter to a Downers Grove hospital. The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for copies of videos of the event to assist in their investigation.
