Man injures Illinois State Police Troopers in hit and run accident

SPRINGFIELD – A Romeoville man was taken into custody after crashing into two Illinois State Police squad cars, resulting in injuries to both troopers. According to the Illinois State Police, on Thursday just before 7 p.m. a District 15 Trooper was inside his squad car investigating a traffic crash on the I-55 southbound ramp, when his squad car was allegedly struck from behind. Police say, the offending vehicle reportedly fled the scene and continued southbound on I-55, where he proceeded to strike a District 5 Trooper. The District 5 Trooper was reportedly assisting a disabled vehicle on the roadway of I-55 southbound at IL Route 53, when the offending vehicle struck the squad car. According to police the driver was identified as 47-year-old Desmond Glee of Romeoville. The troopers and Glee were reportedly transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were later released. Glee was charged with an aggravated DUI, and taken to the Will County Sheriff’s Department with bond yet to be set.
