Man Indicted Tuesday For Thanksgiving High Speed Chase

MENDOTA – A Rockford man who led police on a chase exceeding 100 mph on Thanksgiving morning was indicted Tuesday for aggravated fleeing and eluding.
A Mendota officer attempted to stop a reckless driver on I-39 who fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle exited West onto Interstate I-80, and the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. An investigation took place and the driver was identified as 20 year old Emmanual M. Williams. He was taken into custody on December 22nd.
Members of the Mendota Police Department, Investigations Division, met with Williams once he had been transferred to the custody of the LaSalle County Jail. Williams was interviewed in regards to the Thanksgiving Day high speed pursuit, and he eventually confessed to being the driver of the vehicle. He remains in custody at the LaSalle County Jail on $20,000 bond.
