DIXON – The Lee County Sheriff sang high praises for those involved in saving a child’s life last December. On December 22nd in Harmon, Illinois, Lee County Deputies were called to a home for a three-year-old boy who was reported missing. Deputies, along with the Lee County Search and Rescue Team, Lee County EMA Drone, Dixon PD K-9 and the Illinois State Police searched for the child who reportedly was only wearing a diaper on a morning with temperatures in the teens. The child was found unresponsive and unclothed in a ditch. Deputies immediately loaded the child into a vehicle and while en route had to perform CPR twice to revive him. At an area hospital the child coded several times and had to be revived. After being transferred to a Peoria hospital, the child made a full recovery.
Sheriff John C. Simonton said “I am proud of our Sauk Valley area law enforcement officers, deputies, telecommunicators, first responders and hospital staff for their perseverance and dedication that morning. This child is alive because of their combined efforts.”
