DIXON – Lee County officials participated in a phone conference Wednesday with Surgeon General Jerome Adams and several other high-ranking government officials. Surgeon General Adams placed significant emphasis on the importance of the response at the local level and “social distancing” and handwashing. The Surgeon General said, “Everyone should behave as if they have COVID-19.”

He also noted that there is evidence that if we do the “right thing” at the “right place” at the “right time” we can make a significant impact to “flatten the curve.” Adams reinforced that “social distancing” does not mean “social disengagement” and urged people to use emerging technologies like telehealth and other virtual connection resources like Facetime, Zoom and Google Hangout.
