OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department is experiencing a large volume of calls and new cases of COVID-19, and are asking the public to cooperate if you or a close contact test positive. They now say it could take a couple of days for a contact tracer to reach out to you. They ask that if you do test positive that you isolate yourself at home away from others by staying in a separate room and using a separate bathroom if available. They also request that you begin thinking about anyone you had close contact with 48 hours before your symptoms began or 48 hours from the day you were tested if you were not experiencing symptoms. A close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of a person for longer than 15 minutes. They would like you to notify your close contacts if possible and have that information available for contact tracers when they call. Most importantly, if you are notified by someone that you are a close contact, quarantine is recommended for 14 days.
