LaSalle County Board says no to wider entrance for grain elevator company

OTTAWA – LaSalle County Board members rejected a grain elevator company’s request for a wider road to alleviate truck traffic. Safety Manager John Janz of Ruff Brothers Grain in Leonore told the board, the widening of their entrance from 50 to 100 feet would get trucks off of the road quicker, making roads safer for traffic. County Engineer Larry Kinzer says its not the solution when trucks are still approaching on an opposing lane of traffic to make a right turn into the elevator either way. Board members suggested purchasing property to create and inlet and outlet, but Janz says sellers hike their prices up once the company expresses interest. He stressed that company would pay %100 of the cost, however the board rejected the resolution voting 21 nos, and 5 yeses.
