Joliet man charged in Ottawa burglary

Dyvoncea T. Dawson

OTTAWA – An Joliet man is in custody on multiple charges after a burglary investigation in Ottawa earlier this month. According to the Ottawa Police Department, on April 12th they took a report of a vehicle burglary, where a woman’s purse was allegedly stolen. Authorities say after investigating the incident, they obtained and executed a search warrant on April 12th for 20-year-old Dyvoncea T. Dawson. Police say Dawson was initially taken into custody on an unrelated Will County warrant for aggravated domestic battery and transferred to the LaSalle County Jail. On Monday police say the burglary case was brought to the LaSalle County States Attorney’s Office where arrest warrants were issued charging Dawson with one count of burglary and one count of obstructing justice. The obstructing justice charge stems from Dawson reportedly providing a false name during the search warrant to avoid being arrested on the Will County warrant.
