IVCC Foundation’s Second Annual Giving Day is Coming Soon

OGLESBY- A Chuckin’ Chick’n Challenge, Doughnuts for Dough, Bucks for Baskets and Slime Challenge are among the highlights of the Illinois Valley Community College Foundation’s second annual Giving Day ‪from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5‬ in the gym.
All proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s core mission: providing access to IVCC to students-in-need. The first Giving Day in April 2017 netted $23,500 thanks in part to title sponsor Hometown National Bank of La Salle, again the sponsor in 2018 with its $3,000 gift.
In Bucks for Baskets, former IVCC basketball players and Foundation scholarship recipients Lauren Tomasson and Julia Pohar will attempt to make more combined free throws in three minutes than faculty members Tom Tunnell and Bob Reese.
In the Slime Challenge, employees Quintin Overocker, Vince Brolley, Promise Yong and Cynthia Cardosi will vie for the ‘privilege’ of being slimed. The employee raising the most contributions will have a bucket of slime dumped on their head. The slime is being created by Chem Club students.
In Chuckin’ Chick’n, IVCC President Jerry Corcoran and Foundation President Dr. Sue Schmitt will toss rubber chickens into buckets to raise pledges.
Finally, students Richard Nowotnik and Jonathan Quintana, assistant director of admissions Aseret Loveland and agriculture instructor Willard Mott will compete in “Doughnuts for Dough.” The foursome will eat as many doughnuts as they can in three minutes.
To donate, visit www.ivcc.edu/givingday or call Janice Corrigan at ‪(815) 224-0253‬. Tickets for a drawing for a “St. Louis Getaway” with four-piece luggage set are $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be purchased in the Foundation office (C202). Second prize is four White Sox tickets with parking pass and third prize is a pack of assorted gift cards. Winners will be drawn ‪April 5.‬
The IVCC Foundation awards about 250 scholarships annually and has distributed over $1 million in scholarships the past four years combined.
