OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College was awarded over $80,000 in grant funding to support adult learners in their Career and Technical Education programs. The $81,665 grant will reinforce IVCC’s Adult Learner Initiative and enhance the schools ability to recruit, serve, and retain adult students in technical fields.
IVCC CTE programs include cybersecurity, business technology, welding, dental assisting, CAD, computer networking, manufacturing, HVAC, industrial maintenance, automotive technology, electricity, electronics, EMS, nursing, therapeutic massage and others.
“This funding supports students in high-need industries, including information technology and education,” said Dr. Brian Durham, executive director of the Illinois Community College Board.
“The grants allow colleges to make a significant investment in advising, coaching, and mentoring CTE faculty and students, at a time when the need for a connection between teachers and students is paramount.”
Grants are funded through the federal Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.
