CHICAGO – Illinois’ Silver Search Task Force assisted in the safe return of over 40 missing people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, during 2018 there were 44 Silver Search advisories, leading to 43 recoveries, compared to nearly half of that in 2017. Sliver Search is a coordinated effort to educate and provide resources to find missing people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association credits the rise in advisories to the increased training in 2018. According to the association, the Illinois State Police Department has trained more than 200 law enforcement personnel the procedures for activating a search. This increased awareness has been the mission of the Silver Search Task Force, which brings agencies and organizations together with the common goal of educating people on the Silver Search.
