Illinois National Guard helicopters move hurricane relief supplies

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois National Guard troops have begun assisting those areas affected by Hurricane Florence.   Aircraft and soldiers transported 28,000 pounds of food, water, and relief supplies to a hospital in the disaster area Sept. 17. On the same day they transported 2,750 pounds of relief supplies to rural Jones County, North Carolina.
Ten Illinois National Guard Soldiers and two helicopters departed for North Carolina to support the response to Hurricane Florence Sept. 13.
