SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has announced the issuance of water infrastructure loans to local governments and sanitary districts for the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2022. The Illinois EPA State Revolving Fund Program provides low-interest loans which fund wastewater, stormwater, and drinking water projects. The city of LaSalle will upgrade their sewage handling capabilities and add a new 62,500-gallon chlorine contact tank. The project will cost around $2.4 million dollars, with over $700,000 of the loan being forgiven by the state. Ladd will be installing new watermains and sewer lines. That project, which will cost around $820,000, will have $400,000 of the loan being forgiven by the state. In total for all of State Fiscal Year 2022, Illinois EPA issued over $500 million in wastewater, stormwater and drinking water infrastructure loans.
