SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public reported over 2,000 new COVID-19 cases in the state on Wednesday. The 2,128 cases were announced along with 27 additional deaths. Illinois has seen 238,643 cases since the start of the pandemic, as well as 8,091 deaths. The seven-day positivity rate as of September 1st is 4.5%
