IDOT worker struck during road construction in DePue

DEPUE – A 68-year-old IDOT worker suffered minor injuries after a vehicle failed to yield to the stop sign he was holding during road construction Thursday in DePue. According Illinois State Police Dist. 17, just before 9 a.m., a van driven by a Tiskilwa woman who was traveling eastbound on IL Rt. 29, just east of East 2850th Road, allegedly failed to yield a member of highway construction and the stop sign he was holding. The worker was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and released. It was reported that signage displayed at intervals over the course of more than one mile warned approaching motorists of the upcoming construction. The woman was cited for failing to yield to a worker within a construction, maintenance zone and disobeying a traffic control device.
