Governor Pritzker announces all schools closed for remainder of academic year

CHICAGO- In his Friday afternoon press conference about the ongoing pandemic, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced all schools in the state, public and private, will be closed for the remainder of the academic school year.

“The science says the students can’t go back to their normal routine” said the Governor Friday.

Dr. Matt Seaton, Superintendent of Streator High School said Friday E-learning for students would continue, and other events, such as Prom and Graduation, will have to be decided on sometime in the near future.

Schools statewide closed on March 17th in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.   Over two million students are enrolled statewide, and most are now taking classes remotely via the internet.
