Gas prices up 50 cents since last week

CHICAGO – With the national gas average at an all-time high of over $4, Americans may have reached a tipping point according to the American Automobile Association. New survey data from AAA finds if gas were to reach $5.00, which it has in the Western part of the country, three-quarters of Americans said they would need to adjust their lifestyle to offset the spike at the pump. Locally gas has increased from just $4 dollars, now 50 cents higher from last week Friday. LaSalle, Putnam and Bureau counties are all averaging gas prices between $4.50 cents to 4.52 cents per gallon. The Statewide average is nearly $5.
