Gas prices at its highest nationwide

CHICAGO – Gas prices have spiked nationwide due to elevated crude prices according to the American Automobile Association. Statewide, Illinois has seen a major jump in prices, currently averaging $3.71 per gallon, nearly 30 cents per gallon higher than last month. Putnam County is seeing the highest gas prices around at $3.70 per gallon, compared to $3.40 at the beginning of the month. LaSalle and Bureau counties also share hefty gas prices, averaging around $3.63 per gallon. The AAA says pump prices will likely rise if crude prices continue to climb. The national gas price averages around $3.53 per gallon.
