Fugitives wanted in South Carolina homicide captured in Whiteside County

STERLING – A pair of fugitives who were wanted in connection with an alleged homicide in South Carolina were captured Friday morning in Whiteside County. Lee County Sheriff John Simonton said around 3 AM the Lee County Joint Operations Group took 28-year-old Jorden E. Johnson and 20-year-old Latisha D. Evans into custody in the 1500 block of East 4th Street in Sterling. Both were transported to the Whiteside County Jail pending extradition to South Carolina. On the 4th of July, authorities warned the pair may be in the area after a burned out vehicle linked to the South Carolina homicide was discovered in rural Lee County.
