Former Ottawa fireman accused of drowning wife in toilet acquitted of first degree murder

OTTAWA  The jury in the trial of a former Ottawa fireman accused of drowning his wife has found him not guilty. On Friday afternoon, just before 2 p.m. jurors reached a unanimous vote to acquit 52-year-old Kenneth of first degree murder charges. Prosecutors claimed that Cusick was guilty of drowning his late wife, Tracy, in a toilet in 2006. Defense Attorney Ryan Hamer says the verdict was reached quicker than he expected, but the case can finally be put to rest. Jurors deliberated for around an hour. LaSalle County States Attorney Karen Donnelly says she respects the process and the jurors, but shes disappointed in the outcome.
