PONTIAC – Free influenza shots will be available for Livingston County adults at the Livingston Family Care Center in Pontiac on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This clinic is open to the public – you are not required to be a patient of the Livingston Family Care Center in order to attend. No appointment or insurance is necessary. Individuals will stay in their vehicles throughout their visit and masks must be worn when interacting with staff. Insurance will be billed, if available. The event is sponsored by the Livingston County Health Department (LCHD).
The Livingston Family Care Center is the county’s free medical clinic for those eligible residents age 18-64 who are uninsured. Services provided include appointments with volunteer medical providers, opportunities for medications and health screenings at reduced cost, and donated medical equipment distribution. Drive-up flu vaccinations are also available at the LCHD (310 E. Torrance Ave., Pontiac) Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Please call 815-844-7174 ext. 210 upon arrival and a LCHD nurse will meet you at your vehicle to administer the flu vaccination.
The CDC recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get the flu vaccine. People at highest risk of serious flu-related complications include: young children; pregnant women; people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart, lung and kidney disease; people with weakened immune systems; and people 65 years and older. People at high risk for serious flurelated complications should make getting vaccinated a priority. Vaccination is also important for anyone who has close contact with a person at high risk for complications, or a child younger than 6 months of age.
