No Transplant Support Group Meetings December, January, or February

Because wintery weather conditions can adversely affect health, the Live Life transplant support group will not meet in December, January and February. The group normally meets on the second Monday of each month in the conference room of Illinois Valley Community Hospital’s 6th Street office building.  The next meeting will be Monday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. Live Life is an IVCH support group for Illinois Valley residents who have had transplant surgery or who are on waiting lists for…

American Red Cross Local Blood Donation Opportunities

The American Red Cross encourages people to help meet the urgent need for blood by resolving to give blood this January – National Blood Donor Month. The Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly, beginning in January. Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser

At the Mendota Civic Center serving spaghetti from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. $ 8.00 adults and $ 4.00 for kids under 12-years-old. Spaghetti dinner includes bread, a salad, dessert and a drink. Carry-outs also available (without the drink). There will also be a 50/40 drawing.

8th Annual Penguin Plunge

The Penguin Plunge is an annual fundraiser that helps to raise money for Make-A-Wish Illinois. Proceeds from the event help to grant wishes of children in our local areas. Trivia Night at the Reddick Mansion

Bald Eagle Watch at Starved Rock

Starved Rock Bald Eagle Watch Weekend at the Illinois Waterway Lock and Dam Visitor Center, Starved Rock Visitor Center and Starved Rock Lodge will begin Saturday January 26th through the 27th. Hikes leave the Visitors Center at 9:30 a.m. 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both days. Chose from three different hikes, and join knowledgeable staff and park volunteers to spot bald eagles along the Illinois River.
