Documentary film shown at IVCC to focus on Shawnee National Forest

OGLESBY – A free screening of the new documentary film Shawnee Showdown- Keep the Forest Standing, will be held at 7 PM, Friday at the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre located in IVCC’s Community Tech Building. Doors open at 6:30 PM. The film recalls past conflicts and environmental victories and underscores an uncertain future for Illinois’ Shawnee National Forest. The event is sponsored by IVCC Chemistry Club & Biology Club, as well as Starved Rock Audubon Society. The film retraces the battle over commercial logging within the Shawnee National Forest for more than three decades. Following the screening will be a panel discussion and Q&A.
