DeKalb man facing murder charges after shooting

 
DEKALB – A DeKalb man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting another man Thursday evening. The DeKalb Police Department say that 34-year-old Deaundre Brooks was dropped off at Northwestern Medicine-Kishwaukee Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was airlifted to a Rockford Hospital where he succumbed to his wound. After an investigation by DeKalb Police, they identified 40-year-old Calvin Hamilton and after an attempted traffic stop, Hamilton reportedly fled. After a pursuit that police say reached a high rate of speed on I-88, he was taken into custody and was charged with First Degree Murder. Authorities say additional charges against Hamilton are anticipated.
