DeKalb County Man Arrested For Shoving Car Onto Railroad Tracks With SUV

Hinckley, DeKalb County

HINCKLEY – A car that was struck by a train Wednesday night in DeKalb County had been apparently shoved onto the tracks by the driver of an SUV. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, they were called around 9 p.m. to the 100 block of West Lincoln Ave in Hinckley after a BNSF train had collided with a sedan. Authorities say after an investigation it was determined that 33-year-old Nathan R. Sorensen of Hinckley allegedly used his SUV to hit the car, putting it in the path of the train. It was also discovered that earlier in the day Sorensen had allegedly struck the owner of the car with his SUV. No injuries were reported. He was taken to the DeKalb County Jail on multiple charges, including reckless driving, DUI and domestic battery.
