Daytime English as a Second Language class to be offered by IVCC in Ottawa

OTTAWA – Illinois Valley Community College’s Adult Education program will offer daytime English as a Second Language classes to accommodate students not able to attend class in the evening at Ottawa Center this spring. The program received additional funding of $14,500 under the CURES Act to purchase technology to support remote learning.
For the second year, and in conjunction with IVCC’s Career and Technical Education program, they also received an Integrated Education and Training grant for $20,000 to help adult ed students obtain their High School Equivalency, transition to certificate programs and earn stackable credentials in healthcare and manufacturing.
Adult Education director Sara Escatel said, “The additional funding will really benefit our ESL and HSE students, especially those unable to attend classes face-to-face.”
