Crest Hill Police Officer stabbed; suspect shot and killed


CREST HILL – A suspect is dead and a Crest Hill Police Officer is in serious condition after being stabbed during a domestic violence call Monday Night. Authorities say they were called to the 1400 Block of Pioneer Road for a dispute between a husband and wife in an apartment, and allegedly the male suspect, identified as 30-year-old Matthew J. Parks was armed with a knife. As responding officers arrived at the scene, Parks allegedly stabbed an officer in the leg with a knife. Another Crest Hill Police Officer shot the suspect several times in defense of the injured officer. The injured officer underwent surgury for his injuries and remains in serious condition. Parks was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Will and Grundy County Major Crimes Task Force.
