OTTAWA – Counterfeit money is being passed around Ottawa according to the Ottawa Police. The Ottawa Police began alerting people Tuesday that a number of counterfeit 100 dollar bills are making their way around the city. The bills have been made using “washed” out ten dollar bills and reprinted with an ink jet printer. According to authorities, the bills seems to have a pinkish hue and are said to pass the pen test. Ottawa Police are encouraging checking the bills by making sure the anti-counterfeit strip matches the direction of the portrait. If you have any questions about the authenticity of currency, please contact the Ottawa Police Department at (815) 433-2131
