OTTAWA – A Cook County woman involved in an alleged pursuit that resulted in deploying stock sticks has been arrested along Interstate-80 on Friday. According to the Ottawa Police Department, an officer witnessed 61-year-old Anita Humphrey of Chicago Heights attempting to pass an alleged fraudulent check inside of a general store. Authorities say when the officer approached Humphrey, she reportedly fled without permission from the owner in a van belonging to another female who had been at the store with Humphrey. Police say a second officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the van, which reportedly failed to stop and continued on I-80. That’s when the Marseilles Police Department assisted by deploying stop sticks, deflating the vehicle’s tires. Humphrey was taken into custody and charged with one county of Forgery, one count of Unlawful Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, one count of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and one county of Driving while License Revoked.
