ComEd warns of scammers approaching you at home

Studstill Media Photo

CHICAGO – ComEd is letting the public know that there are individuals who may try to pass themselves off as a utility worker in an effort to pull of a swindle. They say that these imposters may contact you and claim that your service will be disconnected unless payment is made, and may instruct you to purchase a prepaid credit card and call back to a different phone number and provide personal details. ComEd reminds residents they will never ask for immediate payment with a prepaid card or cryptocurrency, or ask for your personal details. All employees who are in the field will wear a uniform and will have an ID from the utility. If you have concerns, they ask you call 1-800-EDISON-1 (1-800-334-7661) before engaging with the person.
