Cell Phone Calls Discussed in Andersen Trial

HENNEPIN – Cell tower mapping was reviewed at the Clifford Andersen trial Monday.    Andersen is accused in the concealment and murder of his sister in law, Deborah Dewey.  On the stand this afternoon was an Illinois State Trooper, Matt Windisch, who was called to discuss his expertise in cell phone tower mapping.  A series of phone calls between Andersen and Dewey the day before Dewey was reported missing were used to track cell phone towers that picked up the calls.   The trooper concluded that that last call was made between Cedar Point and Oglesby at 11:45 a.m. on August 22nd, 2016.  The prosecution was using the phone records to claim that the defendant was the last person to speak to Dewey, and also to establish the time frame and location in which the defendant could have killed the victim.
Earlier in the day, one of the jurors stepped down.  One of the two alternate juror took his place.  So the jury still consists of nine males, and three females.  The trial, which including jury selection, started a week ago, will continue Tuesday at the Putnam County Courthouse.
