Canadian wildfires drift smoke across Great Lakes, neighboring states

By: Coconino National Forest

PERU – Smoke from Canadian wildfires has made its way across the Great Lakes, lingering around most of north central Illinois. You may have been wondering why skies have been looking hazy this week. Weatherology meteorologists Micheal Karow says active wildfires in western Ontario and eastern Manitoba drifted smoke to parts of Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. Karow says fogginess will continue into Wednesday, but an overnight cold front should clear skies by Thursday.
