PONTIAC – The Livingston County Health Department is reminding residents of a program to help uninsured women ages 40-64 attain mammograms free of charge. The Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Program will also assist those with insurance by paying their deductible if diagnostic services are needed. They say there are no income guidelines or health insurance deductible requirements. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as a reminder early detection is the best defense. When cancer is found early and it’s confined to the breast, the five year survival rate is over 95%.
