Attempted child abduction near Somonauk misinterpreted

SOMONAUK – After further investigations into an alleged attempted child abduction near Somonauk earlier this week, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office says, the incident is a misunderstanding. On Monday morning, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of an attempted child abduction on Hoxey Road (E 2351st Rd) just south of the Village of Somonauk limits. After further investigations and witness interviews, detectives learned the juvenile son was driving south southbound on Hoxey Rd. when he saw a young boy walking barefoot on the shoulder of the road, appearing to be limping. The Juvenile driver reportedly stopped on the side of the road and asked if the boy was alright, and when doing so the boy allegedly ran away. Investigators say they spoke to another witness who says the observed a boy running northbound without shoes on, on this same time frame and location. According to authorities there is no immediate danger to the public.
