Area Unemployment Lowest Since 2006

OTTAWA – Area unemployment rates were down to close out 2017 according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security to lowest rates since 2006. Livingston County remains the lowest with just 4.0%, followed by Putnam at 4.7%. LaSalle County dropped to 5.5% unemployment and Bureau County to 4.9%, both over a percentage point less than a year ago. Statewide Illinois added 37,900 non farm jobs since December of 2016.
