Area Nursing Homes suffering COVID-19 outbreaks


MENDOTA – The latest update on the COVID-19 pandemic from the Illinois Department of Public Health show more long term care facilities dealing with the potentially deadly novel coronavirus.  Since last week, 3 more deaths have been reported due to complications of COVID-19 at Heritage Health in Mendota.  They also report a total of 109 infections among residents and staff.
The LaSalle County Nursing Home is reporting 16 infections, Ottawa Pavillion 11, Parker Nursing and Rehab with 4, the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle with 3, St. Margarets Living Center with 3, and Streator Unlimited with 2.
Aperion Care in Marseilles experienced the county’s first outbreak, a case that the IDPH notes as closed after 42 infections and 10 deaths.
The total infections in long term care facilities since the pandemic began is 187 with 19 deaths attributed to complications of COVID-19
