Ambler pleads guilty in Will County for robbery

Lowell Maxwell Ambler

JOLIET – A former police officer from LaSalle County plead guilty in suburban Chicago on an aggravated robbery charge.  According to Will County Court records, Lowell “Max” Ambler on Thursday plead guilty to aggravated robbery, a class 1 felony.  Records also indicate that the prosecution dropped three other felony charges.  The charges stemmed from the October 2017 incident when authorities were searching for Ambler after an alleged car theft in Plainfield.  He will be sentenced next month.  Ambler, who worked for several years as a law officer for three different departments in LaSalle County, including as a K9 handler for the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, also faces two class X felony charges in Lee County from 2017 for home invasion and aggravated kidnapping.  He is still being held in Lee County.
