SOMONAUK- An attempted abduction allegedly occurred near Somonauk Monday evening. According to the Somonauk Police Department they say that around 8:30pm, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted child abduction on Hoxsey Road (E 2351st Rd) just south of the city. Reportedly a 15-year-old male was walking along Hoxsey Rd. when a light blue pickup truck with four doors, tinted windows and a topper pulled over. The witness described a male, 30-40 years of age, around 6 foot tall, wearing blue jeans exited the truck and confronted the teen to “come here”. The 15-year-old told the male he was not to talk to strangers and turned around and began walking the other way. The male ran after the teen for approximately 100 yards and then gave up. The 15-year-old was able to reach a friend’s house safely in town.
Multiple agencies, including the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, Somonauk Police Department and the Illinois State Police attempted to find the suspect, who was not located. The incident remains under investigation.
